UNIVERSITY CLINIC OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY, HEAD AND NECK SURGERY

Procedure

We require a referral slip from the referring ENT specialist and the health insurance card. You must also bring this with you on the day of the operation.

The patient is first examined by a doctor at the ENT outpatient clinic. If the decision is made to have an outpatient procedure, the operation will be discussed with the patient (consent to surgery).

The surgery appointment can then be made at the outpatient clinic registration desk.

In the case of a planned general anesthetic, the patient is presented to the anesthetist either on the same day or one day before the scheduled operation. If preliminary examinations are necessary for the anesthetic, we will organize them.

On the day of the operation, the patient will be taken to a previously assigned ward, where the nursing staff will prepare them for the operation.

For some cosmetic operations (e.g., Auriculoplasty), written confirmation of cost coverage by the health insurance company is required before the operation date.

If necessary, the clinic will issue a certificate of incapacity for work or other certificates for the caregiver or employer on the day of the operation.

To prevent pain after the operation, the patient will be given painkillers for the day of the operation - we will issue a prescription for the following days if necessary. Children over 2 years of age are registered directly in the children's ward (ENT I). Here they will be given an appointment for their first appointment. The operation usually takes place on the following day.
