UNIVERSITY CLINIC OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY, HEAD AND NECK SURGERY

Salivary Glands and Autoimmunity

Welcome to the Salivary Glands and Autoimmunity Section!

Our ENT clinic offers specialized diagnostics and treatment for salivary gland disorders and related autoimmune conditions. Using state-of-the-art technology and in-depth medical expertise, we ensure that our patients receive an accurate diagnosis and optimal treatment. Through the use of advanced imaging techniques such as ultrasound, CT, and MRI, as well as fine-tissue examinations, we can accurately diagnose disorders of the major salivary glands (parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands). Minimally invasive endoscopy of the salivary ducts—known as sialendoscopy—enables us to diagnose and treat salivary stones (sialolithiasis), strictures, and chronic inflammation. Our treatment approaches for salivary gland disorders include both surgical and nonsurgical methods. We treat benign and malignant tumors of the salivary glands, chronic sialadenitis, and salivary duct obstructions. We specialize in particular in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune salivary gland disorders such as Sjögren’s syndrome. This includes serological tests to identify autoimmune markers, salivary gland biopsies, and interdisciplinary care to ensure comprehensive treatment of these complex conditions. Our treatment approaches are tailored to each patient’s individual needs and include medication, physical therapy, and, if necessary, surgical procedures. Follow-up care includes regular checkups and long-term support to ensure the best possible treatment outcomes.
